Road Trip – Day Five – No Name to Moab

We stopped off the highway in a small Colorado town for breakfast. We ended up in this 50s style diner located in a strip mall. I think we were the only customers. All but one of the staff looked to be under 20 years old and were hanging out at the counter. The dishwasher who looked about 18 was telling the other kids a story about how he was in court yesterday (I didn’t hear the reason) and the judge was too hard on a young girl from Mexico. I guess the girl stole some makeup or something from the drug stiore. The dishwasher, who like the other kids was dressed as much like a 1977 punk rocker as he could manage, told the other kids how he thought she just learned to steal from our government and it’s conquering in Iraq for the oil. He may not have been Bush’s most informed critic but I enjoy hearing all viewpoints that oppose the current president.

The 50s style diner featured mostly 80s style music which prompted Jenny to compare it to the diner in the movie Ghost World. Here are a couple shots of our food. I enjoyed it very much.

Here is a pieced together shot of the van on one of the exits marked “No Services”. I had no idea there was so much open space left out here.
